Singer and musician Michael Hope is one of today's most compelling pops
vocalists. With a beautiful baritone voice and impeccable
musicianship, he has captivated and charmed audiences in both Canada and
The United States. He first gained international recognition as the 1st
prizewinner in the 1988 CMC International Stepping Stones Competition.
Since then he has appeared with virtually every Canadian orchestra plus
symphonies in the United States.
Michael's newest CD, "Hallelujah", features Leonard Cohen's iconic song of the same name and is the latest instalment in his distinguished recording career. This album won a Covenant Award Nomination for "Best Inspirational Album of The Year". His classic CD of spiritual songs, "Amazing Grace" also won a Covenant Award Nomination for "Classical/Traditional Album of the Year". His Christmas CD, "Silent Night" made The Calgary Herald's Top 10 Holiday CD list. And his "Bewitched" (Love Songs of Broadway and Sinatra) won critical acclaim as well.
He was featured as a soloist in the television production
"Whole Notes" which is regularly broadcast nationally on the Bravo! and
PBS television networks. Michael was also featured in a series of
television commercials produced for The Alberta Human Rights
Commission's "Help Make Difference" initiative.
A native of Toronto, Michael is a graduate of the prestigious Curtis
Institute Of Music in Philadelphia. He has held the full-time
position of 2nd bassoonist in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 1982, and in
